PROFIBUS DP is a high-speed multi-purpose bus protocol (up to 12Mbit/s) used to interconnect field devices such as remote I/O, drivers, low-voltage electrical equipment, and controllers. PROFIBUS DP can be connected to AC 800M through the CI854B communication interface. CI854B includes two PROFIBUS ports for line redundancy and also supports PROFIBUS primary redundancy.

PROFIBUS-DP communication supports primary redundancy by using two CI854B communication interface modules. The main redundancy can be combined with CPU redundancy and CEXbus redundancy (BC810). These modules are installed on DIN rails and directly connected to S800 I/O systems and other I/O systems, including all PROFIBUS DP/DP-V1 and Foundation fieldbus proficiency systems.
